Israel Galván and Sylvie Courvoisier come together in shared madness through Stravinsky’s convulsive musicality
One of them cannot read music and the other cannot transmit it with her body but they form a perfectly synchronised tandem and boldly perform Stravinsky’s exciting The Rite of Spring. Galvan’s challenge? To reflect the aggressiveness of music through the movement and percussion created with his body. Courvoisier’s? To merge her piano with Cory Smythe’s to follow the rhythmic beats of Galván, while guiding the dancer through a score filled with rhythm and changes. A bold and surprising show.
