The Vic-born sculptor has created a pagan temple and its liturgy to observe and pay tribute to the miracle of a thousand-year-old olive tree

At L’Olivar, Vic-born sculptor and performer Enric Pladevall has fulfilled a dream: a walk-through sculpture, a tribute to the olive tree. A great poetic gesture in which word, image, earth and roots come together. A hidden space which, to enter, requires walking 23 m to reach a very deep well surrounded by a 360-degree balcony that allows us to observe the archaeological wonder of a thousand-year-old olive tree. This installation is entitled Cripta. An ecological vision which, according to the artist himself, takes shape in a pagan temple that seeks to go beyond the concept of sculpture. It aims to be a poetic and theatrical liturgy. An example of total art in dialogue with nature that also carries a note of denunciation.
