Gardenia, which in 2010 was seen in Avignon and Temporada Alta, brought together the fascinating life stories of nine people —born men— who decided at a certain point in their lives to take on a new identity as women. Older individuals who turned their memories of struggle and survival into a moving account, at times harsh, at others funny, always unique. A choreography of gender ambiguity that left a deep impression on audiences. A decade later, Alain Platel —an undisputed reference in European theatre— and Franck Van Laeck return to revisit this project to delve even deeper into the idea of the passage of time, with virtually the same cast. There are small changes and, above all, one absence: Andrea de Leat. This Gardènia – 10 anys després is dedicated to her beloved memory.
