Piel de Lava challenges gender stereotypes in a comedy set in an oilfield in Patagonia

The Argentinian company Piel de Lava presents a comedy about the fragility of gender construction, with four male characters played by four actresses. In an oilfield in Patagonia, four men live together in a trailer while, just a few metres away, oil is being extracted from an almost empty well.

Up there, free time becomes covered in dust, of dark myths of the area, of physical challenges. Below, the rock is fractured to extract the final drop, the little that remains.

Premiered in 2018, in this fifth work in its career, the Argentinian company Piel de Lava explores the possibility of inhabiting male characters, in constant dialogue with the capacity to generate fiction through certain group processes and also as a way of investigating the construction of gender and stereotypes. Founded in 2003, Piel de Lava has gained a strong reputation on stages around the world, and also in cinema, thanks to its system of collective creation.
