A choreographic marathon about love, resistance and the spectacle of life

How Romantic is a deeply ironic commentary on how we experience life’s struggles as a spectacle, both in grand gestures and in the smallest details. We witness an intense marathon that evokes the dance marathons of the Great Depression in the United States.

There are no winners or losers: only 14 experienced dancers who, in pairs, alone or like a herd of horses, negotiate their way through movement and sound in a relentless choreography. Through displays of strength, joy and fatigue, they encourage one another in an energetic blend of abandon and rigorous discipline. It is a collision between order and chaos in a feverish search for something real.

The production creates a space for reflection: on power and relationships, intimacy, forced entertainment and, perhaps, the role of love as the ultimate finish line of any race, even when it seems unattainable.
