AYOUB
Marina Otero returns with 'AYOUB'
Marina Otero returns with 'AYOUB'
The performance piece originally announced as El Oficio de Morir is now presented under the title AYOUB. It is the same creation, continuing the project Recordar para vivir, following Fuck Me (TA22), Love Me (TA23), and Kill Me (TA24). The project was born from the intention that Marina could save a man in a vulnerable situation and, at the same time, that this man could save her from loneliness. The appearance of Ayoub transformed that search; his name (“the returned” or “the repentant”) is very common in Islamic countries: 615 children bearing that name were killed by the Zionist state of Israel in the Gaza Strip. For those who died, she gives this work his name — a piece that speaks of Ayoub, of colonialism, of Palestine. And of everything she wants to kill inside herself.
