Prospero NEW

Prospero New European Wave (Prospero NEW) is a European platform that supports theatre artists with international potential, especially emerging stage directors. With the participation of Temporada Alta, the project strengthens cooperation between European theatres and festivals in order to foster the creation, circulation and visibility of new performing arts talent.
A European network to support emerging creation
Coordinated by Théâtre de Liège, Prospero NEW brings together 19 members from 18 European countries. The project builds on the legacy of the Prospero network and expands its international dimension with the aim of identifying promising artists, supporting their development and helping them reach beyond their local or national contexts.
Support for artists, residencies and international circulation
Over four years, the platform develops different lines of action to support artists: paid international residencies, mentoring programmes, co-productions, presentation of performances, digital dissemination and professional networking opportunities. This support is designed to help artists who have already begun to build a solid career at national level but who still face difficulties in accessing international circuits.
Research and new challenges for European theatre
In addition to direct support for creation, Prospero NEW also encourages reflection on the future of the European performing arts through lines of work linked to sustainability, diversity and artists’ working conditions. The project aims to contribute to a more connected, open European scene that is better prepared to face the cultural and social challenges of the years to come.
