People Power Partnership (PPP)

Discover the project!

Temporada Alta is part of People Power Partnership (PPP), a large-scale European project dedicated to urban dance, involving 14 cultural and educational institutions from 11 different countries. Each of the cities that have joined the project selects 8 young people aged between 18 and 25 to take part in the performances that will be organised between 2021 and 2024. Those selected will have the opportunity to perform both at Temporada Alta and in different cities across Europe, and to be part of a creative and professional team with more than 100 young people.

The objectives

The aim of People Power Partnership is to promote mobility, professionalisation, internationalisation and exchange among young artists. Urban dance and public space are the cornerstones of this project, which also includes a virtual space that will allow audiences to explore some elements of the productions digitally through a mobile app developed especially for the occasion. During the 2021-2024 period, seminars, workshops and open talks will also be organised. The project direction, as well as the artistic direction of the performances, is undertaken by the German company Pan.Optikum.

How does it unfold?

Although the dates may change depending on how the global health situation evolves, the team made up of the eight Catalan artists will participate in the project with three performances. This summer, they will travel to the city of Prague and work collaboratively on the creation of a first performance with the Czech team; in autumn, the Latvian team from Riga will come to Girona to prepare a second performance, which we will be able to see in this year’s edition of Temporada Alta. Finally, in a second phase starting in 2022, these and other productions will form the basis of a larger performance created jointly with participants from Lisbon (Portugal), Alytus (Lithuania) and Helsingør (Denmark).

Meet the Catalan team!

The project organisation has selected eight artists aged between 19 and 23 from Girona and other parts of Catalonia, following the auditions. They will have the opportunity to perform both at Temporada Alta and on different European stages. Andrea Rubio, Anna Gispert, David Maestre, Eva Pascual, Iby (Irene) Baeza, Joel Claros, Mònica Pallàs and Nyeleti Tomás, chosen from around sixty candidates, are the Catalan participants in the People Power Partnership project. Congratulations!

2022-2023 tour

The group will undertake a residency during the month of August in Freiburg im Breisgau (Germany), at the Pan.Optikum facilities. There, on 9 and 10 September, they will premiere their new performance, accompanied by young artists from Portugal, Denmark and Lithuania. Then, from October onwards, they will begin a European tour that will take them to the cities of the team members. They will start in Alytus (Lithuania) on 1 October. They will return to Girona in October next year, as part of Temporada Alta 2023.
