Practical Information

Girona Cathedral, a magnificent example of Catalan Gothic architecture, stands majestically in the heart of Girona’s Old Town, Catalonia. With more than a thousand years of history, this imposing structure is a living testament to the region’s glorious past. Its Baroque façade, preceded by a grand staircase, is one of Girona’s most recognisable landmarks.

Inside, the cathedral houses the widest Gothic nave in the world, with an impressive vault rising above a space of great solemnity. The building also preserves a remarkable artistic heritage, including the Tapestry of Creation, an exceptional work of Romanesque art, as well as altarpieces, tombs and other pieces that bear witness to the history of the building.

The first time Temporada Alta programmed a performance inside Girona Cathedral was in 2022, with Confessions de Sant Agustí, a reading performed by Joan Carreras.

Beyond its religious and heritage value, Girona Cathedral is one of the city’s major architectural and cultural landmarks, a space where history and art coexist with new forms of creativity. With its rich history and impressive architecture, Girona Cathedral continues to be a place of worship, contemplation and admiration for visitors from around the world, while also providing an exceptional setting for some of the festival’s performances.
