María Goiricelaya reinterprets Yerma, inspired by Lorca but with a radically contemporary voice
The author and director María Goiricelaya (Altsasu, TA24) returns with a free reinterpretation of Yerma built from the present and without Lorca’s texts. In this story, a Bilbao-born artist reconstructs her life journey and her desire for motherhood in an urban environment full of contradictions. Through characters that embody frustrations, affections, and silences, Goiricelaya gives voice to women who today face the biological impossibility of having children. A production that speaks of absence, social pressure, and unspoken pain, and that will come to Temporada Alta as the final performance of its tour.
