Bàrbara Mestanza reflects on cancel culture with a thriller about the limits of reparation
Bàrbara Mestanza reflects on cancel culture with a thriller about the limits of reparation
Journalist Mae Llimós led the local #MeToo movement by denouncing the abuse of a theatre professor. After achieving professional and media success, everything shatters with one piece of news: the aggressor has attempted suicide. With the arrival of the accused’s daughter, reality sets in and cracks begin to show in the narratives. Cutting Off a Foot with a Chainsaw, written and directed by Bàrbara Mestanza (Sucia, TA20), is an uncomfortable and necessary piece about guilt, the limits of reparation, and the grey areas of responsibility. Three women struggle between truth and the shadow of their ideals.
