The rock icon closes his European tour in Girona
A rock icon and a leading figure in American counterculture, Patti Smith will be the highlight of the music programme at the 34th edition of Temporada Alta. Known as the ‘poet of punk’, the artist revolutionised the music scene in the seventies with her debut album Horses (1975), where she fused poetry, social criticism and a raw energy that broke the mould.
Throughout her career, she has delivered a series of notable albums, including Easter with the famous song Because the Night written with Bruce Springsteen or Dream of Life with People Have the Power composed with her late husband Fred Sonic Smith. The singer and composer will close her current European tour in Girona with a special concert that Temporada Alta is bringing to the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the inauguration of the Auditori de Girona.
The outstanding band that accompanies her includes guitarist and author Lenny Kaye, with whom she has been collaborating since 1971, drummer Jay Dee Daugherty since 1975, Tony Shanahan on bass and keyboards since 1996, and her son, guitarist Jackson Smith, for more than 20 years.
