Double Bill
Innovation, virtuosity, and experimentation from the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company
Innovation, virtuosity, and experimentation from the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company
Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company presents a double bill that exemplifies its essence: innovation, virtuosity and experimentation. Under the artistic direction of Ioannis Mandafounis, the company explores new choreographic forms in which live creation plays a central role in this double bill.
Undertainment, choreographed by Forsythe, is an exercise in scenic freedom where improvisation and visual pleasure guide the movements in surprising and energetic patterns. It is a garment that reflects the evolution of ballet into a radically contemporary expression.
In Playing with Sergei, Martha and others, Thomas Hauert transforms Rachmaninoff’s Concerto No. 3 – performed by Martha Argerich – into an intense and emotional choreographic experience. Through improvisation and collective intelligence, the dancers enter into the music from their own perception. Two complementary pieces that put choreographic mastery and creative risk in dialogue.
