Albert Serra pays tribute to Antoni Tàpies on the centenary of his birth
Fe sense obres morta és, the new film production by Albert Serra, pays tribute to the figure and work of Antoni Tàpies. It is a co-production between the Museu Tàpies and Andergraun Films, born from the Museu Tàpies’ desire to promote the dissemination of the tapian legacy through contemporary and undisciplined perspectives, capable of generating new narratives from his work.
In this context, Albert Serra —filmmaker, producer and screenwriter internationally acclaimed for a career marked by formal freedom and conceptual radicalism— has developed a personal, free and untransferable approach to the universe of Antoni Tàpies. The result is a film that does not aim to explain or interpret, but rather to suggest, to invoke, to move. An open and sensorial piece that seeks poetic evocation rather than direct representation.
With Fe sense obres morta és, Albert Serra delves into the most intimate and spiritual territories of Antoni Tàpies’ production, exploring its material limits, symbolic weight and philosophical depth through his own uncompromising and ever-provocative gaze. The film avoids conventional narration to build an immersive experience that dialogues with the thought and aesthetics of Antoni Tàpies, underlining their relevance, complexity and transformative power. This audiovisual project is therefore much more than a portrait or an exercise in interpretation: it is an autonomous artistic proposal which, starting from the universe of Antoni Tàpies, unveils hidden or unexpected dimensions. It is also an invitation to approach Antoni Tàpies from new perspectives, through cinematic language as a space for reflection and experimentation.
