Lluís Homar and two pianos invoke the spirit of Dostoevsky, Bach, and Messiaen in a battle between power and freedom
Lluís Homar joins the Piano Duo Brugalla & Stambolov to bring to life a contemporary “auto sacramental” that links word and music to address the conflict between freedom and authority. Based on the Grand Inquisitor chapter from Dostoevsky’s The Brothers Karamazov, the performance contrasts the silence of Jesus with the rhetoric of inquisitorial power, placing it in dialogue with the spiritual music of Bach and Messiaen. A profound and also unusual proposal that calls upon the spirit of resistance against the rhetorics of imposition.
