Once again this year, the festival opens its doors to the best foreign productions at the same time as consolidating its commitment to Catalan play-writing. On that note, they've already started to reveal this edition's big names. Amongst them, one of the great South African directors and playwrights, Brett Bailey, will present his own version of the opera Macbeth by Guiseppe Verdi. Twelve African voices will transport the text to the post-colonial period in what will be one of Temporada Alta's biggest shows.
From across the Atlantic, in the second edition of the Latin American Connexion season, Viejo, solo y puto, a piece by artist Sergio Boris, will visit the festival amongst others. In the international dance productions section, Belgian Alain Platel and his dancers will perform Coup Fatal, a fusion of baroque music, Congolese notes, rock and jazz performed live. And from the North comes Teixint la pau (Knitting Peace), a piece from the Cirkus Cirkör company, one of the leading showpieces of this Nordic contemporary circus school.
Temporada Alta will also repeat its Contemporary Creation Week -which will being international programmers to Girona-, the #FF80 dance project, the Catalan Playwriting Tournament and other activities that are currently being prepared.
This year's Temporada Alta festival will be held from the 3rd of October to the 8th of December in the cities of Girona and Salt. The full programme will be available from the 4th of September.
