Here are the key highlights of this year’s festival:
- We continue looking towards Europe, co-producing works such as Inhale Delirium Exhale, by Miet Warlop, We: Nosaltres i els temps, by Malpelo, or SEPPUKU. EL FUNERAL DE MISHIMA o el placer de morir, the new proposal by Angélica Liddell.
- Hamlet, by Thomas Ostermeier (opening performance), Le Somnet, by Christopher Marthaler, The Hague, by Galin Stoev and Sasha Denisova, and the Canadian circus ID EVOLUTION are some of the international shows that, together with co-productions and proposals from artists in Conexión Iberoamérica, shape this year’s program.
- As a prelude to the 2025 edition, before the official opening, the festival will host a concert by Patti Smith at the Auditori de Girona.
- We remain faithful to promoting Catalan stage creation, and this year we are co-producing several Catalan works by artists such as Roser López Espinosa (Cèl·lula #6: Faula), Cor de Teatre (Nauta), Josep Maria Miró (La Majordoma), Bàrbara Mestanza (Tallar-me el peu amb una motoserra), Mos Maiorum (Nosaltres, els sense nom), La Moukhles & Sentís (ABECEDARI) and La Menuda (Lumiero).
- The Conexión Iberoamérica cycle returns strongly with 8 shows and several premieres in Catalonia: Gabriel Calderón with Ai! - In this 34th edition, staged readings stand out, with big names from the Catalan stage such as David Verdaguer (De profundis, by Oscar Wilde), Elisabet Casanovas (Diaris, by Anaïs Nin), Lluís Homar (El discurs del gran inquisidor, by Dostoevsky) and Nora Navas, reading poems on mystical desire.
- The Fundació La Ciutat Invisible, with the A Tempo project, returns to classrooms with 11 proposals aimed at preschool, primary, secondary, and special education, and once again organizes the Torneig de Dramatúrgia in secondary schools.
- The Torneig de Dramatúrgia reaches its fifteenth edition, while we also bring back the Llibràlegs, a cycle of readings in libraries.
- And, beyond the programming, Temporada Alta presents a new initiative in collaboration with the Ajuntament de Barcelona and the Generalitat de Catalunya: Flaix de Tardor Barcelona, a program featuring major international names performing in the Catalan capital.
