From November 21 to 24th, Temporada Alta will once again become the epicentre of the great exponents of contemporary creation, coinciding with the celebration of Big Bang – Professional Week, which this year adopts a new name in tune with the explosion of talent and the commitment to the future that it represents. A total of 10 internationally recognised artists and companies –some of them also emerging– make up the week’s programme, including the Spanish premiere of Bérénice, the French classic by Racine directed by Romeo Castellucci and performed by Isabelle Huppert.
For four days, more than one hundred performing arts programmers with very diverse profiles (dramatology, acting, programming, direction, management, translation, set design, etc.) will visit Girona. Although it is usual throughout the festival to see programmers who come to see the scheduled shows, during these four days professionals from all over the world are invited to promote the internationalisation of the Catalan scene and facilitate the production, co-production and circulation of shows.
In order to bring programmers and artists into contact, and to present new projects to facilitate co-production or advanced programming by international institutions, closed-door activities are organised by professionals during these days. This is a good opportunity for artists to gain the insight and artistic lines of international professionals in order to know in which artistic spaces they can fit future productions.
The programme for this edition maintains the usual structure, combining internationally recognised artists such as Romeo Castellucci with Isabelle Huppert (Bérénice), Marina Otero (Kill me), Marcos Morau with La Veronal (Totentanz – Morgen ist die frage), cabosanroque (El castor que plorava), Azkona-Toloza (Cuerpos celestes), El Conde de Torrefiel (La luz de un lago) and Atresbandes (It dont’ worry me). The ultimate goal is to produce an artistic exchange between all of them, the professionals and the audience.
Since its inception in 2011, more than a thousand national and international professionals have passed through Girona, including representatives of prestigious institutions such as the Avignon Festival, the Théâtre Odeon in Paris, the Wiener Festwochen in Vienna, the Kunsten Festival des Arts in Brussels, the Naples Festival, the Foreign Affairs Festival in Berlin, the Théâtre de la Ville and the Festival de Automne, both in Paris, and the Public Theater in New York, among many others.
