From Mozart to Bad Bunny: Don Giovanni revisited in a contemporary key

The experimental opera by cabosanroque revisits the myth of Don Juan from a contemporary perspective, bringing Mozart and Bad Bunny into dialogue in order to question present-day forms of seduction, desire and masculinity. The proposal starts from a comparison between the catalogue of Don Giovanni’s conquests, recited by Leporello in Madamina, il catalogo è questo, and the song Tití me preguntó, by Bad Bunny. Despite the distance of 235 years, both pieces share the same logic: listing women and conquests from a male perspective marked by unsatisfied desire.

The show asks what version of Don Giovanni corresponds to our times, whether the seducer can still be a fascinating figure or whether he must be read as a predator, and what role women play. After more than fifteen years without actors on stage, cabosanroque places six girls at the centre of a sound scenography that combines Mozart, new composition and reggaeton.
