A sound experience in a cemetery by El Conde de Torrefiel and cabosanroque
This is the fourth chapter of Site Un-specific, a series of sound walks curated and produced by cabosanroque for the digital arts content platform CaixaForum+.
In this chapter, El Conde de Torrefiel and cabosanroque offer us a unique guided tour of a cemetery, a little-known city inhabited by thousands of people waiting for the arrival of some curious tourist so they can whisper their secrets into their ear. Just as Virgil guided Dante on his pilgrimage to the Underworld, an eclectic discourse accompanies this walk, inviting us to reflect on the eternal question: what happens after our journey through the world?
The sound walks in Site Un-specific have to be experienced in different archetypal spaces (the supermarket, the park, the bar, the cemetery, the forest, the city, the home…) so that a play of correspondences and contradictions always emerges between the space heard, the space seen and the place imagined. The first chapter, Audioguía para supermercados en tiempo de pandemia, was first presented at the Temporada Alta 2020 festival in its A Distància format, created as a result of the health crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The series comprises three chapters by cabosanroque, three collaborations with El Conde de Torrefiel, Alberto Conejero and Isa Campo, and three decontextualised interviews with Graciela Iturbide, El niño de Elche and Perejaume.
